SUMMER HAS ARRIVED!!

  • TICKETS FOR ALL EVENTS, TRIPS AND PROGRAMS WILL GO ON SALE MONDAY, JULY 1

  • RESERVATIONS FOR TUESDAY NIGHT OUT MUST BE MADE AND PAID FOR BY NOON ON THE PRECEDING FRIDAY.

  • CHECK THE TIMES FOR THE PROGRAMS, THEY ARE NOT ALL THE SAME.

  • THE SENIOR CENTER WILL BE USED AS A COOLING CENTER WHEN THE WEATHER WARRANTS.

  • PLEASE COME IN IF THE HOT TEMPERATURES BOTHER YOU. THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO DO HERE.

  • THERE IS NO CHARGE DURING JULY AND AUGUST TO TAKE THE

    MINIBUS TO THE SENIOR CENTER AND HOME FROM HERE.

  • IF AIR CONDITIONING BOTHERS YOU, REMEMBER TO BRING A SWEATER OR LIGHT JACKET.

  • IF YOUR CLASS ISN’T ON THE CALENDAR, THE INSTRUCTOR MAY BE ON VACATION.

  • STAY SAFE AND STAY HYDRATED.

  • IF IT’S ON THE CALENDAR WITHOUT A WRITE UP, IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS, JUST GIVE US A CALL!

TUESDAY NIGHT OUT!!
SUMMER 2024

JULY 9 – Come and enjoy a Luau with the Westborough Police Dept.!
Tropical drinks, chicken kabobs, vegetable rice and fresh fruit are on the menu.
Enjoy the music of the Romeo Duo, join the conga line or play a little cornhole.
5:30 p.m.  $6.00
JULY 16 – It’s been called the greatest heist of all me and Bob Ainsworth will give you all the details of the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Theft.
We’ll be serving freshly made deli sandwiches (turkey or roast beef), chips, pickles and dessert.
5:00 p.m.  $5.00
JULY 23 – “Pioneering Women of Early Rock ‘n Roll” with David Polatin will be a trip down memory lane.
You’ll hear plenty of music, sung live, and hear the stories surrounding the songs.
Pizza, tossed salad and ice cream sandwiches are what’s for dinner.
5:30 p.m.  $5.00
JULY 30 – If you remember The Platters, you’ll love hearing former lead singer, Tony Funches, singing all the songs.
Join us for some great music and a little walk down memory lane!
We’ll have BBQ Chicken, cole slaw, cornbread and dessert.
5:30 p.m.  $6.00
AUGUST 6 – The “ABA Trio” will be entertaining us with songs and a few chuckles as they present, “You’re Never Too Old To Love”.
Adrianna Bal more, William Cotton and Andrew Alper are a rare group of generations wrapped in love!
Enjoy a Chef’s Salad, rolls and butter and blueberry pie for dessert.
5:30 p.m.  $6.00
AUGUST 13 – Annual Westborough Fire Department Cook-out.
Burgers, Dogs, potato salad, chips and the return of the s’mores.
Meet the members of the WFD and pick up a few safety tips, too.
5:00 p.m. $3.00
AUGUST 20 – It’s Breakfast for Dinner time!!
Pancakes, sausage and juice followed by square dancing with the Four Squares Square Dancing Club.
There is no charge but we ask that you bring a box of cereal for the Westborough Food Pantry so we can stock the shelves before school starts. 5:00 p.m.

AUGUST 27 – ELVIS will be in the building!!!
You asked, we delivered! There’ll be extra napkins for the pulled pork sandwiches and cole slaw and rock away the rest of the summer with one of the most iconic entertainers of our me. Bet you remember all the words!!

CHINESE MYTHOLOGY: DRAGON

FRIDAY 7/12 AT 10:00 AM

Chinese Mythology: Dragon – Dragons are revered creatures in Chinese culture, symbolizing power, strength, and good fortune. We will create our own dragon artwork to take home. Refreshments will be served. Sign up by noon on 7/10.

TRIP TO KIMBALL FARM

THURSDAY 7/18 AT 9:30 AM

Join us for a fun day at Kimball Farm in Westford. There’s no admission fee. The bus will depart at 9:30am from the Senior Center. Sign up by noon on 7/16

MOVIE 'SHANG-CHI and the
LEDGEND OF THE TEN RINGS'

FRIDAY 7/26 AT 10:00 AM

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” tells the story of Shang-Chi, a martial arts expert who must face his past when he gets involved with a secret group called the Ten Rings. The movie has exciting action scenes and mixes ancient stories with modern ones. It explores ideas about family, who you are, and what you’re meant to do, as Shang-Chi uses his amazing skills to battle a strong enemy.
The duration of the movie is 132 minutes and is narrated in English. Refreshments will be served.  Sign up by noon on 7/24

HONG KONG MAHJONG

FRIDAY 8/2 AT 10:00 AM

Hong Kong Mahjong – Join us in a relaxed environment to play mahjong. If there are not enough people to play mahjong, a movie will be played on that day.

CELEBRATE QIXI FESTIVAL

FRIDAY 8/9 AT 10:00 AM

What is Qixi, or Double Seventh Festival? It is a traditional Chinese festival celebrated on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month. Refreshments will be served. Sign up by noon on 8/7

DANFORTH ARTS MUSEUM & LUNCH

THURSDAY 8/15 AT 9:30 AM

Museum admission is $6 per Senior. The bus will depart at 9:30am from the Senior Center.  Lunch will be at around noon at Sichuan Gourmet in Framingham. Individual bill.  Sign up by noon on 8/13

THE SECRETS OF TIBET

FRIDAY 8/23 AT 10:00 AM

Tibetan daily life is shaped by its distinctive geography, culture and religious practices. Refreshments will be served.  Sign up by noon on 8/21

MOVIE 'BALLAD FROM TIBET''

FRIDAY 8/30 AT 10:00 AM

Ballad from Tibet” is about a Tibetan girl named Dolkar who leaves her village to explore the world, despite her father’s concerns. Along the way, she learns about her culture and discovers the beauty of her homeland. It’s a story about adventure, dreams, and the importance of family ties.
The duration of the movie is 89 minutes and is narrated in Chinese with English subtitles. Refreshments will be served. Sign up by noon on 8/28

COME HAVE LUNCH ON FRIDAY

FRIDAY AT 12:00 NOON

We will continue to serve lunch on Friday at 12:00 noon throughout the summer months. When we went to press, the menus were not available to us. They will be available at the Senior Center when we get them. Please remember to make your reservation by 10:00 a.m. the day before.

Transportation is available.
A $3.00 donation is requested for each meal.

DO YOU PLAY BRIDGE?

TUESDAY AT 12:30 PM BEGINNING 7/2

Beginning Tuesday, July 2, we will have a Bridge game going on here beginning at 12:30 p.m. There is no charge and all skill levels are welcome. Transportation is available.

WILLARD HOUSE CLOCK MUSEUM

FRIDAY 7/19 AT 10:00 AM

Join us on Friday, July 19, for a trip to Grafton and a tour or the historic Willard House Clock Museum. We’ll be leaving here at 10:00 a.m. and return by 12:30 p.m.
Cost for the tour is $9.00 but free for Veterans. You will pay the day of the trip at the museum. Seating is limited. Come learn a little bit about the history of our region.

WORCESTER RED SOX

WEDNESDAY 7/10 AT 10:30 AM

We have tickets to the Worcester Red Sox game at Polar Park on Wednesday, July 10. We will be leaving from the Senior Center at 10:30 a.m. We have great seats behind the first base line.
Cost for the ticket is $26.00 and includes transportation to the park. You must come in and pay for your ticket to reserve it.

PAINT WITH ANNE HUNTER

THURSDAY 8/1 AT 12:30 PM

Join Anne Hunter on Thursday, August 1, at 12:30 p.m. to paint beautiful summer flowers. She will bring all the supplies and walk you through the process.
Cost for the class is $20.00 and must be paid when you register.
A copy of the picture is available at the Senior Center.

SATURDAY 7/13 & 8/17 FROM 10:00 AM TO 1:00 PM

An Adult Respite Program A program for Westborough Seniors with Memory Loss and Respite for their Caregivers.
Saturday Sunshine provides a structured, quality time for your loved one with memory loss. Professional staff will provide lunch and engaging activities for those who require some supervision.
You must register  prior to event. Please contact Stephanie Keane, LICSW or Alma DeManche at 508-366-3000 to register and for more information.
